When: Wednesday, 26th June, 18:00 - 22:30
Where: Denizen Eiswerk
The exhibition "Off-Axis" is dedicated to the profound exploration of time: How does time shape our perception of the world, and how can we restore balance despite the distortion of time? How do we perceive ‘here and now’ with the unavoidable traces of the past?
Zeynep and Meltem pursue the possibility of a moment where past and present converge and unify on canvas, evolving into a state of longed-for harmony ‘here and now’.
Henri Bergson once wrote “We seize, in the act of perception, something which outruns perception itself.” "Off-Axis" pays tribute to the intricate dance between the light and shadow, conscious and subconscious, the fleeting and the eternal, and the visual sensations that color and shape our perception of reality.
Zeynep Gencer
Zeynep’s art celebrates the moment by observing the perception of time. Drawing from her multidisciplinary art explorations and deep spiritual education, she reflects a timeless vision. In this state, senses serve as tools to navigate and interpret our memories, which are color-coded and subjective, regardless of temporal and spatial constraints. Zeynep perceives time as a thin curtain, partially obscuring memories, and her work invites viewers to peek behind this veil to experience the present moment fully.

Meltem Cetinoglu
Meltem's paintings are a poignant homage to the past, capturing the essence of ordinary moments with a deep sense of longing. Her work delves into the distortions that time and space inflict upon memories. In her canvases, shadows take center stage as protagonists, seemingly ordinary beings that, upon closer inspection, reveal their unique identities and their desire for connection and form. Meltem's art is a daring exploration of the remnants that reside in the shadows of our memories, a testament to the enduring power of the mundane to evoke the extraordinary.
